British. Born London, UK 17.07.1949

After graduating in Fine Arts from St. Mary’s College (University of London) in 1971 Ormond married a Portuguese citizen and moved to Portugal, where he first acted as a design consultant to such companies as Beecham Pharmaceuticals, Unilever and TAP among others. He was subsequently contracted by St. Julian’s School (the British School of Carcavelos), to develop Art, Design and Technology and was later promoted to The Senior Management team as Executive Director for Resource Development and School Business Manager. He resigned in September 2008 as an employee of the school, but continued to provide management consultancy to other International Schools worldwide, while also returning to further develop his interests in Art and Art Education.
His focus on and specialization in both Fine Arts and Schools Management has afforded him long and wide experience (throughout Europe, USA, South America, Middle East and Australia) in teaching, examining, moderating and, as Principal Examiner, leading workshops and training and mentoring teachers and new examiners for The International Baccalaureate Organization. From 2000 to 2010 he also fulfilled two consecutive five-year mandates as the IB Visual Arts Diploma Programme Faculty Member for the Online Curriculum Centre.
Ormond Fannon has been awarded fellowships by both the ECIS (European Council of International Schools) and the RSA (Royal Society of Arts) for his contributions to International Education. As an Accreditation Leader for the CIS (Council of International Schools) he has served on or chaired CIS Visiting Teams to International Schools throughout Europe, the Middle East, South America and Australia. It is this developing advisory role that has led him to choose self-employment as an independent schools’ advisor (organization & administration; finance and facilities; business and management; student services and resources).
Throughout his life and career, he has continued to be actively involved in Fine Arts, whether producing his own artwork or whether guiding teachers and examiners in the field. He has exhibited extensively, mainly throughout Portugal, and is represented in the collections of several municipalities and other private and national organizations. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the SNBA – Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes.
